European Parliament approves to move forward with MDR delay Proposal

In the final vote announced today at 16h, the European Parliament approved to move forward with the Proposal to delay the MDR (Regulation 2017/745 on medical devices) for a year in the context of the EU’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The EP voted with the following results: 693 in favor, 1 against, 2 abstentions of total 696 votes.

The text will now go back to the Council in order to approve the European Parliament position and proceed in a ”written procedure” next week – without including the national parliaments, which would otherwise delay the procedure for 8 weeks.
